Maleme Street wastewater upgrade

We’re upgrading the wastewater network on Maleme Street to improve capacity, reduce future issues and support growth. Temporary traffic and access disruptions will apply during construction.

Why are we doing it?

The existing wastewater infrastructure on Maleme Street is reaching capacity and requires upgrading to improve reliability and performance. This project will help reduce the risk of blockages and overflows, support future growth, and ensure the wastewater network continues to meet community and environmental standards.t

What are we doing?

  • Installing 300m new wastewater pipework along Maleme Street
  • Connecting upgraded infrastructure into the existing network
  • Completing reinstatement works following construction
  • Managing traffic and pedestrian access during construction

When is the work taking place?

Construction starts in late September 2026. It will approximately four to five months, weather and ground conditions permitting.

Traffic management

Traffic management measures will include:

  • temporary traffic management along Maleme Street
  • lane closures and reduced speed limits
  • temporary access restrictions to driveways at times (advance notice will be provided)
  • pedestrian access maintained where possible.

No full road closures are currently anticipated, but short‑term disruptions may occur.
