We’re improving safety, accessibility and multi‑modal transport choices for people working in and visiting the Tauriko Business Estate by building shared paths where they’re most needed.
Why are we doing this?
The shared path will create a safe connection between a busy local hub — including shops, hospitality, childcare centers and nearby public transport, helping address ongoing safety and parking concerns raised by the community.
This is the first step in a staged, prioritised programme to improve walking and cycling connections across the Tauriko Business Estate. Further stages are planned and will be delivered over time as funding becomes available.
What are we doing?
- Constructing a new shared path on Taurikura Drive at the location shown on the map, near Paraone Koikoi Drive
- New cycle ramps will be installed at each end of the shared path to allow cyclists to safely exit and rejoin the existing on-road network
- Concrete bollards will be installed near the Taurikura Drive and Paraone Koikoi Drive roundabout to prevent parking on the berm and shared path, helping keep the route clear and safe for users
- Improving access to public transport by upgrading the existing bus stop outside 204 Taurikura Drive, including a new paved waiting area
When is the work taking place?
We plan to start this work in July and it should take around four weeks.
Traffic management
During construction, temporary traffic management will be in place to support safe movement around the site.
