We’re widening the footpath near Pāpāmoa Primary School to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility.

Why are we doing this?
We’re working to make walking, biking and scootering easier and safer, especially around schools. As part of this we will be improving crossings and footpaths in ten locations across the city between April and June this year.
The footpath along Parton Road, on the eastern boundary of Pāpāmoa Primary School, is narrow and heavily used by students and the wider community. The school has recently moved its boundary fence back, creating an opportunity to widen the path by 1.32–1.34m over 105m.
This upgrade will make the footpath easier and safer to use, especially during busy school times.
Work will be targeted and short duration to minimise disruption.
What are we doing?
- Widening the footpath by 1.32–1.34m over a 105m section.
- Installing reflectors on the two power poles located in the middle of the path and add line marking so they’re easier to see.
- A small section of concrete that used to be an entranceway will be removed, and new line marking will show that the space is now for parking.
When is the work taking place?
The work is taking place in the school holidays.
Traffic management
During construction, temporary traffic management will be in place to support safe movement around the site.
