Salisbury Wharf repairs

We’re carrying out repairs on Salisbury Wharf following a routine inspection that identified areas needing maintenance.

What are we doing

We will be removing and replacing various wharf components that were identified as being in poor condition during the assessments. These components include piles, joists and bearers.

Why are we doing it

These essential works will ensure the wharf remains safe and operational for the community to enjoy.

Project timing

Repairs are set to begin from 13 April with works expected to take 8 – 10 weeks. During this time, the wharf will be temporarily closed to ensure everyone’s safety.

What to expect

  • Occasional noise and vibration
  • Some parking spaces in the car park will be temporarily fenced off during concrete pouring. Approximately 2–3 concrete pours are expected, each lasting up to 3 hours.

Alternative wharfs available during the repair works include:

  • Beacon Wharf pontoon, 50 Dive Crescent
  • The Strand middle pontoon
  • The Strand south pontoon

The Pilot Bay boat ramp at the base of Mauao is closed for the foreseeable future while the slip hazard adjacent to the ramp and elsewhere on Mauao continues to be assessed by geotechnical engineers. For more information, visit www.tauranga.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/marine-and-boating.
