Pilot Bay sand replenishment

We’re replenishing sand along the Pilot Bay foreshore to restore areas affected by coastal erosion and help keep the beach safe and enjoyable for summer.

Why are we doing it?

Weather events have caused erosion along parts of the beach, reducing its usability and appeal. This annual sand replenishment helps maintain the foreshore for the community to enjoy.

What are we doing?

We’ll be replenishing a 500-metre stretch of beach between Commons Avenue and Salisbury Avenue.

When are we doing it?

Work is scheduled to take place from Monday, 10 November to Friday, 21 November 2025, with an aim to complete works within the first week, weather dependent.

What to expect while works are underway

To ensure public safety, fencing will be in place around the 500-metre stretch of beach between Commons Avenue and Salisbury Avenue. Some beach access will remain available throughout the works.

Temporary traffic management will be in place weekdays from 7am to 5pm, and some parking spaces near Salisbury Wharf and The Mall will be unavailable during this time.

You may notice truck movements and some noise while the sand is delivered and distributed along the beach.
