Pilot Bay stormwater outlet maintenance

We’re carrying out maintenance on three stormwater outlets at Pilot Bay to ensure effective stormwater drainage and reduce localised flooding.

Why are we doing it

The stormwater pipes at Pilot Bay carry excess stormwater away from streets and properties during heavy rainfall, tidal events, and storms.

The stormwater outlets are the end points of these pipes, located along the beach. During weather events, and can shift and block the outlets, stopping water from draining properly.

Regular maintenance helps keep the system working and reduces the risk of flooding.

What are we doing

  • Clearing blockages in three exposed stormwater pipelines
  • Extending two outlets near Grace Avenue and Commons Avenue by 5 metres
  • Repairing the third outlet near Pacific Avenue (no extension)

Project timing

Work is scheduled to begin the week of 3 November 2025 and will take approximately two weeks, depending on weather and tides.

What to expect

Engineers will carry out the work on-site using machinery. Expect short periods of noise and vibration. Please stay clear of fenced-off areas for safety.
