What are we doing?
The new changing facilities will be located at the end of the Arataki Park entrance pathway off Monowai Street.
The facility will include two buildings, each containing three showers and two toilets, including a combined accessible shower and toilet cubicle. A canopy will provide covered access between the buildings, with a deck, stairs and ramp creating an accessible connection to the changing rooms.
This will be an interim, relocatable facility, providing sports teams with the amenities they need on training and game days while longer-term planning for the park continues. The buildings can be relocated to other sites where needed in the future.
The changing facilities will be available for sports groups only.

Why are we doing this?
Arataki Sports Club’s clubrooms were demolished in 2010 after reaching the end of their life. Since then, the club has been using the changing rooms at the nearby community centre, which do not include showers and were not designed to support regular sports use.
These much-needed facilities will provide the club and sports groups the space they need to prepare for games, recover afterwards, and host visiting teams, supporting participation in sport at Arataki Park.
When will the work take place?
Construction is expected to begin in late July 2026 and be completed in early September 2026.
Contractors will be working on site Monday to Friday, between 7am and 5pm.
What to expect during construction
A small section of the park will be temporarily closed to the public while construction is underway.
During this time, you may notice construction activity, including machinery movement and beeping, the use of hand tools, and general construction noise and disruption. We appreciate your patience while this work is completed.
