Works programme
This is a vital upgrade within the Central Tauranga water supply programme to ensure residents have access to quality drinking water, to reduce service disruptions, and for the network to better handle population growth.
The upgrade is taking place on Chadwick Road, between Fraser Street and Hynds Road, and is expected to be complete by late 2027.
The work programme is split into multiple phases which will be confirmed by late 2026, with work to begin in February 2027. Following engagement with the local business community, the start period of February was selected to reduce travel disruptions during the Christmas shopping period.
Regular water supply to properties and businesses will not be impacted during construction.
Lane closure and detours
Feedback from the community has shaped our works approach to allow for the flow of two-way traffic where possible through Greerton Village, however temporary loss of parking spaces and single lane closures are required. Resident and business access will remain.
Exact detour routes and timings will be confirmed by late 2026.
Other projects in the area
An upgrade of Cameron Road from 17th Avenue to Maleme Street, including water infrastructure beneath the road, is currently in the design phase with construction due to begin in early 2028. We are coordinating both projects to limit disruption and impact on the community.
