What’s happening
We’re planting native species in the lower section of the reserve near the Laburnum Glen entrance and installing two small bridges over this area and the existing informal path.
This area becomes waterlogged after rainfall, making mowing difficult and limiting access. Native planting is a sustainable, long-term solution that improves drainage, supports biodiversity, and reduces maintenance.
Following feedback from residents, we will also be formalising several pathways around the reserve using timber edging and gravel to improve accessibility for all users. This will include a pathway along the far back edge of the reserve up to the existing concrete path, a pathway connecting to the Laburnum Glen street entrance, and another connecting to the Russley Drive street entrance. These new formalised routes will link to the existing playground and picnic tables, making it easier for everyone to move through and enjoy the reserve.
What to expect
- Temporary fenced work area
- Occasional noise and onsite activity
- Access to the rest of the reserve remains open.
