Surrey Grove Reserve upgrade

We’re upgrading the playground and reserve at Surrey Grove to create a fun, modern space for local tamariki, rangatahi and whānau to enjoy.

Tell us what you think

We’d love your ideas to help bring Surrey Grove Reserve to life. This is your space—a place for local rangatahi, tamariki, and whānau to play, relax, and connect.

If you can, sit down together as a whānau and have a chat: What do you love about the reserve? What’s missing? What big, bold ideas do you have for the future?

The survey is easy and fun, with a special section just for tamariki to get creative. They can sort and rank their favourite play experiences and tell us what matters most to them.

So, what would make Surrey Grove Reserve a place you’re proud of—and excited to spend time in?

Community feedback opens on Friday, 18 July and closes on Friday, 15 August 2025.

Community open days

Over the coming months, we’ll be working alongside the community to help shape the look and feel of the new space. This means connecting with local schools, the Merivale Community Centre, whānau and mana whenua to make sure the playground and reserve reflects the people who use it.

We’re holding two community days at the Surrey Grove Reserve. It’s your opportunity to come along and tell us in person what you love about the playground and what you wish it had.

  • Monday 28 July 1-3pm
  • Saturday 2 August 12-2pm

Construction is planned for 2026, but the design journey is just getting started.
