Grenada Street is set for some changes to the road layout, which will make it safer and easier for the Arataki community to walk, cycle and catch a bus along this road.

Heavy vehicles have several blind spots that prevent drivers from seeing people on bikes, but few people have any idea of what a driver can and can’t see from the seat of their truck or bus.

Restraints, seatbelts, safety belts, child seats - whatever you call them their importance cannot be overstated, put quite simply they save lives. 

Eyes on the road, leave the phone alone. That’s the message from Travel Safe as they set out to remind drivers to avoid distractions to ensure their safety and the safety of other road users.

Getting around safely and protecting the beach were the talk of the playground yesterday as Omanu Primary School students shared their thoughts on the future of the Mount to Arataki area at an in-school workshop with Council staff.
