On 19 July 1919, peace celebrations were held throughout NZ to mark the official end of World War One. To celebrate the centenary, Tauranga City Council has put on a Peace Day photo exhibition at Our Place and is also throwing a Peace Day fun day just for kids.
The exhibition runs till 31 July, with images from both public and private collections taking you back in time to see what Tauranga looked like a century ago, and how we celebrated the official end of World War One.
The family fun day will be on Friday 19 July, kicking off at 10am. This 1920s themed day will have games, live music, a photo booth and hands-on workshops where kids can make cards, peace wheels and paper doves.
