Ranginui Road chipsealing

What’s happening
Contractors are carrying out chipsealing works along Ranginui Road, Welcome Bay – and this will require road closures.

This is part of our annual programme to invest in road safety and improve our roads.

When
These works will take place on Saturday, 8 March 2025, from 6am – 8pm.

Our contractors are trialling a new approach to traffic management for these works, and this should result in the overall reduction of disruption, taking the works from three days to complete to just one day.

What to expect
Sealing is very weather dependent so dates may change due to the weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

These works include heavy machinery which can create noise, vibration and dust occurrences.

The road will be closed during these works. The road will be closed multiple times throughout the day (up to 60-minute periods), with 30 minutes between each closure to allow for entry and exit.

More information

  • Contractors will be on-site from 6am setting up the traffic management.
  • The road will not be impacted until after 9am.
  • Physical works may continue up to 8pm with traffic management pack down completed after that.

More information is available on the Tauranga Road Maintenance website.
